Alysius lives mainly in Balgo Western Australia and travels to Yuendumu to visit family. While in Yuendumu the artist paints his traditional country near Balgo. In this case he has painted a Ngapa Jukurrpa or Water Dreaming from a lake near Balgo. The wavy lines are the water or rain and the central circular shape represents the lake formed after heavy rains.
One Phoenix Arts acknowledges the Larrakia people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which our gallery stands, and pays respect to Elders past and present. We acknowledge the artists and their communities across the Northern Territory, the Kimberley and the deserts, who hold the stories in these works.
