A story of the new

The story of the Urapunga Cockatoo is about The Kangaroos when the earth was being made, who came up from the west making things. They stopped to rest by a billabong at Urapunga. While they dozed some dingoes from another side came creeping up and frightened them. In great fear the kangaroos jumped up. Some jumped into the billabong and turned into big rocks that are there today. Others turned into Cockatoos and flew screeching with fright and anger at the dingoes. As they flew they made the Wilton river to Bulman.
